Thomas H. Steffen

Thomas Henry Steffen, 72, of Crofton, Nebraska passed away on January 16, 2018 with his family present at the Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City, Iowa.

Tom was the third child born to Greg and Johanna Steffen on December 20, 1945 in Yankton, SD.  He graduated from Crofton Community High School and then attended the DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, Illinois where he received his certificate in Radio and TV Repair.  After college he worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, IA.  He later returned to Crofton where he took over the dairy operations and worked on the family farm until he retired.

In 1970, he married Donna Mae Tramp.  They celebrated 47 years together in August and have five children.  He is survived by his wife, five children, eleven grandchildren, two brothers, and three sisters.

In the hopes that others can learn from his body, his last act was to donate his body to the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine.

A Mass in Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton, Nebraska with Father Timothy Podraza officiating.  Family will receive friends on Saturday at 11:30 a. m. followed by a Rosary at 12:30.  Lunch will be provided at the Crofton Auditorium following the service.   His remains will be inurned at the Beaver Creek Cemetery in rural Crofton at a later date.

On Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 2 p.m. a Mass of Remembrance will be will be held at Sunrise Chapel in Sioux City.

Memorials may be directed to Crofton Senior Center, St. Rose Legacy Fund, or Sunrise- Bernstein Renovation Fund in Sioux City, Iowa
