Martha Marilyn Moore

Martha Marilyn Moore, 64, of Sioux City died Saturday, January 6, 2018, at a local hospital after a courageous long-term battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel (3220 Stone Park Blvd.) in Sioux City with Martha’s niece Pastor Joyce Webb officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Martha, the daughter of Jiles and Alvina (Smith) Barbee, was born February 27, 1953 in Sioux City.  She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1971.  She made her home in Arizona before spending many years in Michigan where she made very special friends and family.  In 1979, Martha returned to Sioux City to make her home.  She worked at Interbake Foods until retiring in 2015.

Martha enjoyed reading and spent many hours volunteering at Touchstone while her mother was a resident there.  Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.  Martha always looked out for others and put their needs before her own.  She was actively involved with the Cancer Center and helped with many activities and was a member of the United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Peter (Danielle) Moore II of Sergeant Bluff, IA; five grandchildren: Mikayla (Thomas) Parks of Puyallup, WA, Kelsie Moore of West Des Moines, IA, Derek Moore, Emma Moore and Wyatt Moore all of Sergeant Bluff; three brothers: Sonny Barbee of Sioux City, William (Julie) Barbee of Sioux City and Robert Barbee of Troy, TX; four sisters: Rose Ann (Jerry) Mayo of Sioux City, Marie (Kelly) Schneider of Temple, TX, Marion (Richard) Brouillette of Elgin, IL and Marjie Burke of Sioux City; one sister-in-law, Kris Barbee of Sioux City;  and several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Beverly Barbee and two brothers: Ricky Barbee and Gary Barbee.
