Michael M. Voloshen, 87 of Sioux City passed away at a local hospital on Friday December 29, 2017. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday January 2, 2018 at Washington Heights Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at Washington Heights Chapel. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Michael M. Voloshen was born September 22, 1930 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Polish / Russian immigrants Edward and Anna (Smith) Voloshen. Michael graduated from Sioux City East High the class of 1950 and attended Western Iowa Tech Community College. Michael was employed with the Sioux City Community School for 19 years as a Building and Service Tech. He was a long term member of Washington Heights Chapel and had a loving relationship with the lord. Michael married Bonita (Bonnie) Violette on September 1, 1961 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Michael was active in many sports in high school and continued later in life. Michael was an avid bowler including two perfect games, with his skills Michael was asked to bowl and several area teams traveling to various tournaments. Michael grew up in the Polish / Russian Community as a child and continued to be a very important part of his whole life. Michael will be remembered as a hard worker and always doing the job correct and to the best of his ability. His greatest love was spending time with his family and friends. He loved being a father and grandfather. Michael is survived by his wife Bonnie Voloshen of Sioux City, Son; Edward and his wife Carol Voloshen of Sioux City, daughter; Mary Beth Swift and her husband Robert of Rogers, MN. Grandchildren; Eddie and Ella Voloshen, Jared and Gabrielle Swift, Hannah Grundmeier and husband Thomas, sister; Lucille Kleckner of Mantua, OH. Mr. Voloshen was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; John Voloshen, Frank Voloshen, Edward Voloshen, Walter Voloshen and Victor Voloshen. Sister; Anna Clinkenbeard.
