SIOUX CITY | Alice F. Schenzel, 80, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2017 at a local hospital after a short illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Private burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 with the family present 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Alice was born April 14, 1937 in Villisca, IA to Harry W. and Rosa H. (Patton) Thompson. She moved to Sioux City with her family in 1950 and attended Central High School.
On Dec. 12, 1953 she married Duane D. Schenzel in Sioux City. Alice worked at various restaurants as a dishwasher. She later became an in-home day care provider for her grandkids and others. In her spare time, Alice loved sewing, quilting and embroidery. Duane passed away Feb. 1, 2005 in Sioux City.
Survivors include her children, Mike (Deb) Schenzel of Hinton, IA, Brad (Betty) Schenzel of Aurora, CO, Bonnie (James) Fields of Sioux City, Cheryl (Rich) Hesse of Hinton, IA, Arleen (Denny) Bowers of Sioux City and Paige (Steve) Hesse of Sioux City; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren and another arriving in February.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter; LuAnn; 8-year-old son, Dean; and 4 brothers.
