Delila Mae Gifford Mehess, 99, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017 at her home.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. A private burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be the hour prior to the service. Condolences may be offered online at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Delila was born on May 15, 1918 in Parker, S.D. to George and Eva (Piatt) Gifford. In earlier years, Delila liked to cook, she loved picnics and family reunions and traveling with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, George J. Mehess, parents, 9 siblings and 1 granddaughter.
Survivors include her daughter, Georgia Matheakis; sons, John Mehess, Jim (Linda) Mehess, William Mehess and Delmer Reese; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, Godchildren and many friends and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, Delila’s family suggests memorials to Hospice of Siouxland or the Siouxland Humane Society.
There will be a Celebration of Life on her 100th birthday.
