GOD called my beloved Mother home on Christmas Day after blessing me and many others with her wondrous gift for life. Annette was born with her twin, Anne, November 20, 1918, in Whiting Iowa to William and Chloe Parr. After high school graduation, she studied and obtained her Certificate of Cosmetology. On November 24, 1943, she was united in marriage to Jack Artz in Rochester MN. Annette was a lifetime active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Annette and Jack owned and operated the Midway Bar on Dakota Avenue. After many traveling adventures, they relocated to Hollywood, Florida in the early 1950’s. A few years after the arrival of their daughter, Deborah Ann, they returned to South Sioux. The couple opened, owned and operated Jack Artz Package Liquor Store and several other South Sioux properties. They were passionate about life, family, and helping others with their giving hearts.
After Jack’s passing in 1965, Annette followed her passion of helping and serving others with memberships in South Sioux Chamberettes, St. Paul UMC Women’s Society, Royal Neighbors Assoc., American Business Women’s Assoc. (Elected Women of the Year twice), Dakota County Election Committee and Parents Without Partners. Annette served as President, Vice President Madam Trustee, Treasury and Secretary for multiple terms in many of these organizations. She excelled in cooking, crafts, sewing, leadership and her faith while instilling these qualities and skills in her daughter.
She is survived by her only child, daughter Deborah Ann, granddaughter Alyssandra Annette DiGregory, Ardis Artz (whom she loved like a daughter), several nephews and nieces and many friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Jack, infant brother Everett Parr, 6 sisters; Erma, Violet, Anne, Mary Jane, Wilma, Joan, Brother Neal and granddaughter Angelique Christel.
Annette Artz was loved by many for the essence of who she was. Until we meet again eternally XXXXXXXXOOOOOOO. Deborah’s email address;
