James F. "Jim" Moran

October 12, 1935 — December 22, 2017

James F. “Jim” Moran, 82, of McCook Lake, SD passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 29, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Terry Roder officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. with family present from 6-8 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial with Military Honors will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Jim was born October 12, 1935 in Sioux City, the son of Edward L. Moran Sr. and Kathryn (Murphy) Moran. He grew up in Sioux City, and attended school at Blessed Sacrament, Heelan, Wentworth Military, and the University of South Dakota.

He married Bonnie Scott on November 26, 1960 at Blessed Sacrament. Jim was proud of serving in the United States Navy.

Jim worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield for over 30 years, first in sales and then Vice President of Marketing, retiring in 1993. Jim was a member of the Yellow Dog Auction Club, Knights of Columbus, McCook Lake Izaak Walton, McCook Lake Association, North Sioux City American Legion, Boys of ’68, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, boating, socializing, and spending winters in Texas for 18 years.

Jim is survived by his wife, Bonnie Moran of McCook Lake; three sons, Michael Moran of North Sioux City, Patrick Moran of Elk Point, Daniel Moran of Kansas City, MO; and daughter, Lisa Lambert of South Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Travis VanBuskirk, Mandy Moran, Megan Moran, Allysa Moran, Katlin Moran, John Moran, Brandon Hodgins, and Austin Lambert; five great grandchildren; and a sister Mary Alice Judy of Hillsboro, OR; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Kathryn Moran; brother, Edward Moran, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Tim Judy.
