Milton L. Glazer

Milton L. Glazer, 93 of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at his residence.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Congregation Beth Shalom. Rabbi Guy Greene will officiate. A private graveside service was held at Mt. Sinai Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Milton was born March 24, 1924 in Fort Dodge, IA; a son of Ben and Sara (Galinsky) Glazer. Milton grew up in Fort Dodge and came to Sioux City in the late 1930’s. He earned Life Rank Status in the Boy Scouts and graduated from Central High School. Milton attended the University of Iowa and then enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WW II. Following the war, Milton returned to the University of Iowa and earned a degree in mechanical engineering.

After graduation, Milton returned to Sioux City and joined the family business, Larson Bros. Clothing. He met and married the love of his life Helen Levin on October 10, 1950 in Sioux City; she passed away on September 17, 2016.

Milton purchased Master Mfg. Company in 1958 and owned and successfully operated the company for 46 years. 

Milton was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom and before their merger, Mt. Sinai Temple and served as president of both congregations. A devoted community volunteer Milton was active on the Art Center Board and the Sioux City Airport Board. Milton loved golf, travel, art, but most of all, he loved and adored his wife Helen.

Milt will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his 3 children, daughter: Jane Rips (Harlan) of Omaha, NE and their children Sara and Anne; son: James Glazer (Liz) of Buffalo Grove, IL and their daughter Madelyn; son: Bruce Glazer (Wendy) of Denver, CO and their children Shayna and David; a sister in law: Marcia Levin of Sioux City.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, and a brother, Edward.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Sioux City Art Center.
