Kenneth N. Rush

   Kenneth N. Rush, 77, passed away on December 14, 2017, in Gold Canyon, AZ, while surrounded by family and friends. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Mylet E Rush; daughter, Kelli Coggins and her husband Col. David Coggins, USMC; son, Dan J Rush and his wife Kathleen; grandchildren, Clark, Grant, Traci, Braden, and Sydney; a great grandson, Brodi; his brother, Col. Thomas Rush, USAF (ret); and many nieces and nephews.

   Ken was born on June 4, 1940 in Sioux City, Iowa to Roger Walden Rush and Alta Marie Ogden as the youngest of six siblings. Upon graduating high school in 1958, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and began his career as an Electronics Technician. Ken spent his Naval career (three tours) on the USS Kearsarge in the South Pacific and was involved in the first around-the-world radio communications with President Eisenhower. Ken was honorably discharged in 1962 and married Mylet Elaine Rush on July 7, 1963. They gave birth to daughter Kelli in March 1964 & son Dan in June 1967. As a working father and husband, Ken graduated from Morningside College in August 20, 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He spent the duration of his working life with NW Bell/US West & Wells Fargo Financial Services before retiring in December 1999. Ken and Mylet spent the early years of retirement traveling in their RV before settling in Gold Canyon, AZ in 2003.

   Ken was a member or participated over the years in the Kiwanis Club, the Rotary Club, Telephone Pioneers of America, United Way, and the American Legion. He was known as a man of great strength, courage, and joy – bringing laughter and fullness to the life around him. He loved God, family and his country – supporting all three in everything he did.

   Graveside services with full military honors will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City.  Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
