Bernita F. (Davis) Baker of Sioux City, passed away peacefully one day after celebrating her 93rd birthday. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with Deacon Patricia Roberts officiating. Visitation, with family present, will begin at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home. A private family burial will be on Thursday, December 21st at the Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City. www.meyerbroschapels.com Bernita was the first born child of Floyd and Flossie (Heiner) Davis on December 8, 1924 and was raised in Sioux City. She married the love of her life, Richard H. Baker on August 9, 1941, and together celebrated 68 years of marriage. Bernita enjoyed life with their four children and many grand and great-grandchildren. She loved playing Bingo and enjoyed her “Lunch Bunch” friendships.
Bernita is survived by her daughter Barbara Abara and her husband Okey, and their two children Felicia and Nathan, and daughter Constance (Holtz) Summerlin and her four children Ann, Shelly, Randy, and Stacie. She is also survived by her son’s seven children Loretta, Debbie, Richard, Troy, Todd, Peggy, and TJ.
Bernita was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, infant son Michael, son Richard F. Baker, sister Audrey, and two brothers Jerald and Marvin.
Bernita is loved by her family and friends, and will be missed. We Thank God for having her in our lives.
