Joanne Mathistad

Joanne P. (Connelly) Mathistad, 88 of Sioux City passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 following a brief illness.

As per her wishes, her body was cremated. Memorial services will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Rev. Jay Denne will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00 – 10:30 A.M. Saturday at the funeral Home. Joanne was born October 2, 1929 in Rapidan, MN; she was the daughter of Michael and Fern (Cleveland) Connelly.

On May 5, 1948, Joanne married Seigure B. Mathistad in Mankato, MN; he died Aug. 25, 2014.

Joanne was known for being an active quilter, good cook and she enjoyed camping and fishing. She was very active in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives and would often babysit.

Joanne was the mother of 5 children: Gregg (Monica) Mathistad of Lawton, IA, Vicki McCulley of Sioux City, Nancy (Dwayne) Johnson of South Sioux City, Michael (Lisa) Mathistad of Challenge, CA, Kevin (Suzette) Mathistad of Paradise, CA, 2 sisters: Marguerite Burns and Adeline Hansen both of MN; sister-in-law Alice Austin of MN; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Joanne as preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
