Kieran R. "Tiny" Sexton

October 15, 1924 — December 3, 2017

   Kieran R. “Tiny” Sexton, 93, of Hinton formerly of Sioux City died Sunday, December 3, 2017, at a local care center.

 

   Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017, at St. Boniface Catholic Church (703 W. 5th St.) in Sioux City.  Burial with military honors will be at Danbury Catholic Cemetery, Danbury, Iowa.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel (3220 Stone Park Blvd.) in Sioux City.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

 

   Kieran “Tiny” Sexton, son of Raymond and Celestine (Fitzpatrick) Sexton, was born October 15, 1924 in Danbury.  He grew up in Danbury and attended Catholic school in his early years and graduated from Danbury High School.  During his school years and following high school, he helped on the family farm.  On June 25, 1945, he enlisted with the United States Army and served until his honorable discharge on December 2, 1946.  After his discharge, Tiny returned to Sioux City and has made his home in the area ever since.  He first started working at the Sioux City Stockyards and for several years worked at Klinger Construction until his retirement.

 

   Tiny enjoyed dancing at the Eagles Club in South Sioux City, traveling and watching college basketball and football.

 

   He is survived by his daughter, Ellen Sexton; granddaughter, Alicia Sexton; two great grandchildren, Alon and Kieran Reed all of Omaha; loving companion, Jean Bossow of Hinton; Jean’s children: Paula Bossow of Sioux City, IA, Jim (Angie) Johnson of South Sioux City, NE and Kevin (Vicki) Johnson of Sheridan, CO; Jean’s grandchildren: Kole, Jalissa, Austin, Gary and Greg; Jean’s great grandchildren: Aaliyah, Julian, Jaida, Gary Jr. and Athena; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

 

   He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Barbara Stevens; grandson-in-law, Terrell Reed; five siblings: Delores Black, Maxine Arney, Robert Sexton, Veda Workman, Thomas Sexton; and a special niece, Jan Wolterman.
