Steven J. Reed, 61 of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017 following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Lloyd Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening, Wednesday, November 29th at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be offered to Hospice of Siouxland.
Steven was born on July 18, 1956 in Borger, Texas to Marland “MJ” and Frankie (Carr) Reed. He graduated from Dimmitt High School in Dimmitt, Texas with the Class of 1974. Steven moved to Woodward, Oklahoma in 1977 to help start up the Terra Nitrogen Plant. He married Beverly Lochman on July 14, 1981 in Woodward, Oklahoma, and to this couple, three children were born. After 22 years with Terra International, Steven moved his family from Oklahoma to Sioux City in 1999. He was the Lead Production Superintendent for BPI for 18 years.
Steven enjoyed golfing, and he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. While in Woodward, Oklahoma, Steven was a member of the First Baptist Church, and while in Sioux City, he attended Central Baptist Church.
Steven is survived by his wife Beverly of 36 years; daughters Stefanie Alexander and her husband Heath of Woodward, Oklahoma, and Jennifer Vogel and her husband Bobby of Sioux City, and son Derek Reed and his wife Hilary of Sioux City; seven grandchildren (all of whom called Steven “Pappy”) Presley, Harley, Kaden, Kinley, Brody, Brayden, and Hadley; and father Marland “MJ” Reed of Amarillo, Texas.
Steven was preceded in death by his mother Frankie Reed, brother Stanley Reed, and sister Debra Dutelle.
Casket Bearers for the service will be Jay Williams, Octavio Moreno, Jeff Crocker, Jason Brown, Eduardo Deanda, and Alfredo Plaza. Honorary Bearers will be Derek Reed, Heath Alexander, and Bobby Vogel.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the entire BPI family for all of their love, support, and generosity during this difficult time.
