Charlene A. Gentile, 87, of Sioux City, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Logan Park Cemetery following a luncheon at the funeral home.
Charlene was born the daughter of John and Rose (Enderle) Spray on January 20, 1930 in Sioux City, Iowa. She married Pete R. Gentile on February 3, 1950.
Charlene worked at the Battery Building, Zenith, and JC Penny over the years.
She was active in the Auxiliary at Goodwill and an active member of the Church of All Nations. She loved singing gospel music and participated in choir. She enjoyed travel and flee marketing with her husband, Pete, all through Iowa and MN. She also enjoyed spending time at their trailer home in Park Rapids, MN. She enjoyed fishing with her son, knitting, painting, and crocheting. She also enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Charlene is survived by three daughters, Laurie (Nathan) Hembd; Diana Vassey; and Cheryl Myers, all of Sioux City; one son, Pete L. (Patty) Gentile of Washington State; one brother, David (Marilyn) Spray of Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers; and two sisters.
