Karen, the daughter of Russell and Mary Lou (Mackey) Little, was born October 19, 1956, in Sioux City. Karen was raised in Sioux City and lived there most of her life. She was a graduate of Heelan High School.
On March 13, 1976, Karen was united in marriage to James R. “Jim” Foster in Elk Point, SD. Karen lovingly referred to Jim as her best friend and it was obvious to everyone that knew them that they were soulmates. This lifelong love between the two of them blessed them with four children. Karen worked in the medical field and was currently working as a nurse tech at the VA Outpatient Clinic in Sioux City where she loved caring for her Veteran patients.
Karen enjoyed watching her beloved Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Cubs and was happy to see the Cubbies finally win the World Series. Karen and her family also shared a lot of laughs and good times while pressing their luck at various casinos. Above all, she was very active in all her grandchildren's lives and enjoyed attending all of their academic and athletic activities. She was a member at Church of the Nativity in Sioux City.
Karen is survived by four children: Brandi (Jeff) Duerksen, Monica (Matt) Colella, Kristin (John) Casotti, all of Sioux City and Jamie (Deana) Foster of Des Moines; twelve grandchildren: Kennedy, Peyton, Sylvia, Lexi, Issaiah, Foster, Mia, Carter, Madelyn, Joseph, Josh and Kya; two granddogs: Ellie Mae and Carlie; four siblings: Larry Little of Sioux City, Sis Gee of Sioux City, Don (Cecelia) Little of Georgetown, TX and Rose Ann Schienle of Colorado Springs, CO; her in-laws; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
