Robert Boorom

October 3, 1939 — November 8, 2017

Robert “Bob” Boorom, 78 of Moville, IA passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at an Omaha, NE hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Southern Hills Baptist Church in Sioux City. Bob was a huge sports fan, so please wear the jersey of your favorite team. Pastor Dave Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery in Moville, IA. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Bob was born October 3, 1939 in Cedar Falls, IA; he was the son of Francis “Red” and Adeline (Cooper) Boorom. Bob grew up in Cedar Falls and graduated from New Hartford High School in New Hartford, IA.

On August 31, 1957 Bob married Peggy Maas in New Hartford, she passed away on October 5, 1994 in Moville.

Bob worked for IPS now MidAmerican Energy Company for 37 years, retiring in 1995. In his younger years, Bob also worked as a lifeguard.

Bob enjoyed attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting and school events. He was a fan of the New York Yankees, Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Lakers and the Iowa Hawkeyes and he enjoyed watching all sports. Bob loved to play cards at the bar, but he did not drink. He loved to play golf, fish, play scratch and lottery tickets and travel, especially to Texas. He enjoyed discussions AKA arguments.

Survivors included 2 daughters: Sherry Cross (Jim) and Lynette Stubbs (Allan) all of Moville, IA; his special friend Karen Taylor of Moville; 5 grandchildren: Adam Cross (Crystal), Jeremy Cross (Megan), Brooke Olmstead (Louis), Travis Weitzel (Nicole) and Corey Weitzel (Andrea) and 14 greatgrandchildren. Bob is also survived by Karen’s 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Peggy, 3 brothers Lyle, Roger and Richard and his son in law Tom Weitzel.
