SIOUX CITY, IA | Robert C. “Bob” Campbell, 86, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be 9:00 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Military graveside rites and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017 with the family present 6-8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Bob was born March 2, 1931 in Dunlap, IA the son of Elman P. and Charlotte (Kightlinger) Campbell. His family moved to Sioux City where he attended Sioux City schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 until 1954. Upon his release from active duty, he was transferred to the Army Reserves for eight years.
On Feb. 15, 1955 he married Dolores Mae Dries in Sioux City. Together they raised four children, Paula, Randi, Robert “Scott” and Kelli. Bob worked for 31 years at Swift & Co. meat packing plant and retired in 1985. Dolores passed away Aug. 22, 2001 in Sioux City.
Bob was a longtime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 307 of South Sioux City.
Bob enjoyed being outdoors and working in his yard.
Survivors include his children, Paula (Greg) Benson of Sheridan, WY, Randi (Tim) O’Keefe of Manti, UT and Kelli (Jim) Solsma of Dakota Dunes, SD; daughter-in-law, Cammie Campbell of Wichita, KS; brother, Jack (Gerre) Campbell of Bloomfield, NE; and grandchildren, Megan Larson, Kylie Spurling, Jeremiah Harper, Alex, Jaden and Trent Solsma, Chelsea Elmore, Taylor and Nate Hampton; and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elman and Charlotte Campbell; wife, Dolores Campbell; son, Robert “Scott” Campbell; siblings, Dick, Shirley Worden, Jim, Bill (Bob’s twin), and Mack Campbell.
