Joanne Scoville

January 27, 1933 — October 28, 2017

Joanne Scoville, 84, of Sioux City, passed away, Saturday, October 28, 2017. Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. 

Joanne loved people throughout her life. She utilized years of good health to nurture her children, tend to her husband, teach, golf and participate in parish activities.

Joanne was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 27, 1933 to Edwin and Philomena Dosek.

Joanne attended the University of Nebraska where she met the love of her life Jack Garvey Scoville. They married on May 29, 1954.

Joanne and Jack spent countless hours in the seats of sporting, theater and academic events watching their children grow. Joanne and Jack wanted nothing more than good health and happiness for their children, family, friends and community.

Joanne was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority, served on the Board of the Catholic Women’s League and was active in Sioux City Golf. Joanne taught at Blessed Sacrament, Irving Elementary, and Hoover Middle Schools.

Her love for her husband, family, church and children never ended. Joanne also loved to bowl, golf, watch sports and participate in activities to further her faith.

In lieu of flowers please send donations in Joanne’s name to Holy Cross – Blessed Sacrament Tuition Fund to aid financially stressed students.

Joanne is survived by her loving children Thomas, spouse Brenda, grandson Chris, Foxfield, CO, James, Tucson, AZ, Roxanne, Tempe, AZ, Michael, Sioux City, IA: her sister Philomene Bennet, spouse Louis Marak, Kansas City, MO; sister-in-law(s): Betty Schommer, Betty Dosek, Carol Dosek, and Emily Scoville.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack, father Edwin, mother Philomena; siblings Ed, Jerry, Rita Marie and Mary Alice.
