Lois Alberta (Bruning) Curtis, 88, of Sioux City died November 3, 2017 after a brief illness.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7th at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Lois was born to Otto and Mary Alice Bruning on July 1, 1929 in Cherokee County, Iowa. She married David W. Curtis on October 15th, 1951, in Cherokee, Iowa and lived in Sioux City all of her adult life.
She worked as a Senior Companion in Sioux City, which she enjoyed. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed traveling, playing penny slots at the local casinos and visiting with friends and family. She was always ready for an adventure.
Lois was preceded in death by her companion Harold Gustavson, her parents, her siblings and her oldest son David D. Curtis.
She is survived by her children Barbara (Dana) DeRock, Sherry (Allen) Curtis-Cramer, and Douglas Curtis and his partner, Patricia Schoemann.
Lois had eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
