Sioux City, IA | James E. “Jim” Bobier, 82 of Sioux City, IA passed away suddenly on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017 at UnityPoint Hospital.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at St. Luke Lutheran Church with Rev. Jay Denne officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3rd, with the family present 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be offered online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Jim was born Nov. 16, 1934 the son of Ed and Susie (Buchanan) Bobier on the family homestead near Homer, NE. He graduated from South Sioux City, Nebraska High School then worked alongside with his father in the concrete business. After working several years at a packing plant he attended WITCC and became a machinist. Jim worked for La Blanc Tower Co. until his retirement in 1994.
On Aug. 18, 1956 he married Barbara Jean Lewis at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Together they raised two children and provided a home for two foster children through Lutheran Social Services.
Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and target shooting. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling. He loved family history and living life with a good sense of humor.
Jim was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Barbara; son, James E. (Diane) Bobier Jr. of Hutchinson, MN; daughter, Bounsong (Steve) Sterner of Hutchinson, MN; sister, Mary Sue Eggers of Staceyville, IA; 9 grandchildren, Hilary, Heidi, Luke, Laura, Amanda, Stephanie, Anthony, Jeremy and Jodi; and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Knudsen.
