Margaret J. White, 89 of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at a local care facility. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2017 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Gary Harris officiating. Interment will follow at a later date. www.meyerbroschapels.com Margaret was born on October 30, 1927 in Fonda, Iowa to Frank and Ruth (Blizzard) Hanlin. She graduated with the Class of 1945 in Fonda before moving to Sioux City. She married Merton G. White on May 29, 1949 in Sioux City. They were members of Mayflower Congregational Church, and Margaret was a Deacon, and member of the Priscilla Circle. Margaret was the sales clerk for Hertz Rent-A-Car located at the Sioux City airport for over 20 years. She was an avid golfer, having two holes-in-one and was a charter member of Green Valley Ladies Group and Couples Club, Hidden Acres Monday Group, Sun Valley Tuesday Group. She enjoyed playing Bridge, and loved attending her son’s baseball games.
Margaret is survived by her sons Greg White of Sioux City, and Curtis White and his wife Linda of Westfield, Indiana; grandchildren Holly (White) Swanson and her husband John, Andy White and his wife Holly, and Maggie White; great-grandchildren Addison White, Jonas Swanson, Jack Swanson, Reece White, and Teagan White; sisters-in-law Francis (White) Mennenga and Eunice (Hanlin) Welch and her husband Robert; and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband Merton in 2010, and brother Frank Hanlin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to Mayflower Congregational Church in Margaret’s name.
