SIOUX CITY | Sidney “Paul” Mosher IV, 75, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Oct. 16, 2017 at a local hospital after a brief illness.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017 at First Christian Church, 2101 Jackson St., with Pastor Ken Wells officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2017 with the family present 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Paul was born Oct. 12, 1942 in Sioux City to Sidney Paul Mosher, III and Margaret M. (Lawrence) Mosher. He graduated from Central High School in 1960 then served with the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict. Upon his discharge he attended business school at N.B.T. Paul was in sales for several hotel chains and resorts in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
On April 27, 1968 he married Mary E. Girard in Sioux City. The couple opened Mosher Garden Center in Leeds in 1976. They relocated the garden center in the year 2000 to business Hwy 75. In 2004 the garden center developed into Mosher Landscaping, Inc. which was Paul’s passion, pride and joy. Two of their sons, Sid and Matt, also became operating partners with him. In his early years, Paul worked for his father at Mosher Greenhouse on Kellogg St.
Prior to his military service, Paul played violin and was the youngest member with the Sioux City Symphony. Later on he played violin at various churches.
Paul enjoyed fishing, golfing and westerns. He loved sports. Most importantly, it was always about his grandchildren first.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Mosher; sons, Sid (Alisha) Mosher, Matt Mosher and Lucas (fiancée, Amy) Mosher all of Sioux City; 9 grandchildren, Josh Lenninger, Cody Mosher, Brayden Allan, Dayton Mosher, Easten Mosher, Kamden Mosher, Brooke Mosher, Lucas Mosher II, and one on the way, baby Iris; 2 great-grandchildren, Linkynn and Leilynd; sister, Marie Mosher of San Francisco, CA; 4 brothers, David (Edna) Mosher, Jim (Lois) Mosher all of Sioux City, Mark (Bebe) of Cass Lake, MN and Steve Mosher, Sioux City; and a brother-in-law, Duane Jones of Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his wife, Mary’ sisters and brothers, Vicki (Kevin) Kollbaum of Hornick, IA, Debbie (Dan) Britt of Le Mars, IA, Don (Nelia) Girard of Las Vegas, NV and Gerald (Tera) Girard of Minneapolis, MN
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Susan Jones and Barbara Fick; parents-in law, Lena Girard and Isadore Girard; step-mother, Bernice Girard; and sister-in-law, Sharon Doty.
