Vickie L. Nelson, 61, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Memorial services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
Vickie was born the daughter of Lawrence and Danelda (Schieffer) Nelson on September 26, 1956 in Yankton, South Dakota. She spent most of her adult life in Kansas City, Kansas where she worked at the Eagles Club and Chiefs. She had returned to Sioux City 5 years ago to take care of her sick parents.
Vickie loved children, most importantly her nieces and nephews and cherished her time with them. She also enjoyed the harassment she received from her brothers whom she loved dearly. She liked to collect frog figurines and knick knacks. She was a kind person who would do anything she could to help in a time of need.
She was a member of the Eagle’s Club.
Vickie is survived by her three brothers, Larry Nelson of Sioux City, Randy (Mickey) Nelson of Sioux City, and Rick (Michelle) Nelson of Grand Junction, Colorado; and Nephews Eric Nelson, Jim(Donyell) Nelson and their kids Tristin, Emme, Oliver, and James, Andy(Maddy) Nelson and their son Chase, , Tyler(Natalie)Nelson, Spencer(Mary) Nelson and their son Everest, and Nieces Melissa (Jeff) Cartmill and their son Beckett and Savannah(Chad) George.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Sister-in-law Tamara Nelson, nephew Joseph Nelson, niece Pamela Nelson and great nephew Gabriel Cartmill.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Siouxland and Touchstone for the care they gave Vickie in the final days of her life.
