Raymond "Ray" R. Baum

Raymond “Ray” R. Baum, 89, of Sioux City, Iowa died Friday, October 13, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel (3220 Stone Park Blvd.) in Sioux City.  Burial will follow in the Kingsley Cemetery.  Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Raymond Russell Baum, the son of Harry and Nettie (Gile) Baum, was born February 17, 1928 in Plymouth County, Iowa near Kingsley.  Ray grew up and attended country school in the area of his birth.

Ray was united in marriage to Hazel Burnett and this union was blessed with one son, Robert Ray.  Hazel passed away in 1971 after a courageous battle with cancer.  On December 28, 1975, Ray married Helen D. Miller in Elk Point, SD and she passed away on August 5, 1997.  On December 10, 1997, Ray married Lila J. Conner and she preceded him in death in 2007.

Ray worked for thirty-two years at Metz Baking in the Sanitation Department.  After retiring from Metz, he worked part-time at the U.S. Postal Service until the plant closed.  In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing and watching baseball.  Ray was a former member at Open Bible Church and was currently a member of CrossPointe Church where he enjoyed being an usher and greeter.

Ray is survived by one son, Robert (Jennifer LaCroix) Baum; two grandsons: Russell (Amanda) Baum and Noah LaCroix; and two great grandchildren: Rayce and Ryder Baum all of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three wives; three brothers: Willard, Henry and Sammy; and one sister, Ruby Hoffman.
