SIOUX CITY | Margaret “Bernice” Boeshart, 96, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
Services will be 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux City with Rev. David Hemann officiating. Burial will be in South Creek Cemetery in rural Ponca, Neb. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday with the family present 5:30-8 p.m., a rosary by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas at 4 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Bernice was born August 13, 1921 on the family farm near Martinsburg, Neb. She was the daughter of Ed and Sarah Jane (Green) Casey. She graduated from Laurel (Neb.) High School then earned her teaching certificate from Wayne State Teachers College.
On Dec. 29, 1943 she married Earl D. Boeshart in Ponca, Neb. The couple farmed near Martinsburg before moving to Dakota City, Neb. In 1965. She retired as a supervisor from the Nebraska Department of Social Services.
Bernice was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux City. She was a former member of St. Michael’s in South Sioux City where served on their Altar Society and Pastoral Council and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed crocheting, camping and time with family.
Survivors include her children, Larry (Sandy) Boeshart, Kansas City, MO, Ruthie Boeshart, Ponca, NE, Pat (Sandy) Boeshart, Sioux City, IA, Paul (Linda) Boeshart, Lincoln, NE and Jane (Jim) Dutler, Sioux City, IA; Grandchildren, Jason (Amanda) Boeshart, Matt Boeshart, Jill (Matt) Arunski, Brian (Shannon) Boeshart, Becky (Mike) Walters, Jim (Dawn) Boeshart, Julie (Mike) Maas, Sarah (David) Dirksen, Laura Cole, Erin (Ryan) Watson, Megan (Erik) Wiedel, Andrew (Lindsey) Dutler and Mike Dutler; 29 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. Bernice is also survived by a sister-in-law, Betty Casey of Martinsburg, NE, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; a son, George; brothers, Clem, Don, and Vernon; and sisters, Doris, Mildred and Delores.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters.
