Clifford D. Hansen, 86, of Sioux City died Saturday, October 7, 2017, at a local care center.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church (608 Nebraska St.) in Sioux City with Reverend Dr. Tom Murray officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
Clifford, the seventh of eight children born to Harold N. and Dagmar (Satree) Hansen, was born August 16, 1931 in Petersburg, Nebraska. He attended school in Lu Verne, Iowa and then Morningside College on a basketball scholarship. Clifford married Janet Anne Durlin on December 26, 1953 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sioux City. This union was blessed with four children: Kirk, Lisa, Lori and Todd. In 1961, Clifford started working at the U.S. Postal Service in Sioux City and retired in 1987 as the Director of Personnel and Safety.
Clifford was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed and took great pride in caring for his yard. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Clifford is survived by his children: Kirk Hansen of Sioux City, Lisa Koester and her husband David of Marshalltown, IA, Lori Gedwillo and her husband Steve of Omaha, NE and Todd Hansen and his wife Jill of Moville, IA; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet on September 14, 2016 and one brother and six sisters.
