Isadore “Izzy” Rozen, 92 of Raleigh, NC and formerly of Sioux City passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in Raleigh after a long illness.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Sunday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Mr. Frank Baron will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Izzy was born June 5, 1925 in Salt Lake City, UT; he was the son of Harry and Ethel (Jacobs) Rozen. Izzy grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City Schools. He was drafted out of high school into the U.S. Army. He served in the 29th Infantry Division and was part of Operation Overlord, later known as Normandy Landings of the D-Day invasion. Izzy was awarded the Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Stars.
On December 24, 1950, Izzy married Marian Selinger in Sioux City; she passed away July 18, 1987 in Sioux City.
Izzy was a business partner with his brother, Max Rozen in Westside Radiator.
Izzy was a member of the United Orthodox Synagogue and Congregation Beth Shalom. He was a lifetime member of Graphoanalysis as well as a longtime member of the Cosmopolitan club of Sioux City.
Survivors include his son Mitch Rozen and his wife Kara of Raleigh, NC; 2 grandchildren Tommy Rozen and Marni Rozen, nieces Ivy Iverson and Susan Weaver of Elkhart, IN, and close friends Jan Lebowich, Ruth Lebowich, and Steve Palesh of Sioux City.
Izzy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marian, sister Mushka in 1911, sister Rose Iverson in 2004, brother Max in 2009, niece Marilyn Brown in 2015, and close friend Gordon Lebowich in 2016.
