SIOUX CITY | Douglas E. Raeside, 79, of Sioux City passed away peacefully Thursday, September 21, 2017 of complications after surgery.
  
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Visitation will be at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017 with the family present from 6-8 p.m. The prayer service will be conducted at 7 p.m.. Douglas was born on September 18, 1938 in Sioux City. He was the youngest of seven children born to Joseph and Marjorie (Strong) Raeside. He was married to Rita M. (Johnson) Raeside.

He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1957. He joined the Iowa Air National Guard in 1956 and served for six years working on the flight line which he loved.
 
Doug was a lifelong business man in the paint and swimming pool business. He was the manager of Sioux City Paint and Glass from 1974 until his retirement in 1988, at which time he continued with his swimming pool business until his death. Doug truly enjoyed his pool customers.
 
He was a member of the Home Builders Association of Sioux City and received an award for Outstanding Service.
  
After retirement Doug and Rita spent winters at their home in Surprise, Arizona. He was an avid tennis player enjoying his tennis friends and winning many championships. He also was in a billiards league with his friends. He enjoyed family cruises, driving his golf cart, and any and all social events.
  
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Rita Raeside; two loving daughters, Kimberly Raeside Hamilton (Scott) of Denver, Colorado and Lisa Raeside Swanson (Stan) of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Emily Hamilton, Lauren Swanson and Andrew Swanson; and a sister, Sandra Raeside Method of Minneapolis, Minn.
 
Memorials may be made in Doug Raeside’s name to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sioux City, Iowa.
