Dr. Patrick J. Vezeau

Patrick J. Vezeau, D.D.S., 59 of Jefferson, SD, beloved husband, father, brother and uncle passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Rev. Dr. Thomas Murray will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Pat was born December 3, 1957 in St. Louis, MO; he was the son of Dean F. and Helen M. (McCarthy) Vezeau. Pat grew up in St. Louis and graduated from Pattonville High School in 1976. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Geology with academic honors in 1980 and was a member of the Marching Mizzou Drum Line. Pat continued his studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry, receiving his DDS degree and induction into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Phi Kappa honor societies in 1984. Dr. Vezeau then served his country in the U.S. Navy, completing a Hospital Practice Dentistry residency at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. He next served as the Dental Department Head aboard the helicopter carrier USS Guadalcanal, including a number of overseas deployments. Dr. Vezeau did his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and earned his Master of Science degree in 1991. He practiced oral and maxillofacial surgery in the Quad Cities area for 11 years and then joined Oral Surgery and Implant Specialists in Sioux City in 2003. Dr. Vezeau met his wife, Debbie Benjamin, while both were residents at the University of Iowa and they were married August 11, 1990. In his spare time, Dr. Vezeau was involved in percussion performance, flying as a private pilot, exercise, politics and planning that next trip to see his kids. Survivors include his wife, Debbie of Jefferson, SD; his children: Anne Vezeau of Jacksonville, NC, Grace Vezeau of Bellefonte, PA, Neil Vezeau of Ames, IA; 3 brothers: Bob Vezeau (Marge) of Blue Springs, MO, Jim Vezeau (Jan Bond) of St. Louis, MO and Dan Vezeau (Jeannette) of St. Louis, MO; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Sierra Club.
