Michael E. "Mick" O'Connor

Michael E. “Mick” O’Connor, 77, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 at his residence.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Daniel Rupp and Father Tom Topf concelebrating. Visitation will be Monday, September 11, 2017 from 4-7 P.M. with family present from 5-7 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. all at the church.

Mick was born December 9, 1939 in Sioux City, the son of Frederick Elmer and Ethel Marie (Humes) O’Connor. He graduated from Heelan High School. Mick married Jean Jonas on August 24, 1957 at Immaculate Conception Church. The couple just celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Mick worked as a union carpenter, retiring from Klinger Corporation after 30 years. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid golfer, enjoying his time with “The Group” at Green Valley Golf Course. Mick was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and served as an usher. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include his wife Jean; five sons: Tim O’Connor of Sioux City, Craig and wife Maria O’Connor of Midland, TX, Dennis O’Connor of Sioux City, Kevin and wife Linda O’Connor of Rocky Mount, NC, and Patrick and wife Susan O’Connor of Sioux City; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister Beverly Zieman of Cherokee, IA; nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Mick was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim and Tom, and a nephew Jimmy.

In Lieu of Flowers, a Memorial will be set up in his memory at Green Valley Golf Course.
