Robert Louis (Bob) Hutmacher, 91, passed away at his residence in Sioux City on August 18, 2017. Abiding by his wishes, his body has been cremated and no public services will be held at this time. Bob was born in Sioux City on October 14, 1925, to Marius and Elizabeth Hutmacher. He was the youngest of 12 children. After graduating from Central High School, he served during WWII in the U.S. Navy Air Corps.
On May 13, 1950, Bob married Jackie Thoma, the love of his life. They were married for more than 67 years and were blessed with six children.
Bob was employed by Iowa Public Service and Midwest Energy in Sioux City for more than 42 years. He retired in 1989 as a vice president and corporate officer. His passions included golf and skiing and traveling with Jackie to visit their children and grand-children.
He is survived by his wife Jackie, three sons: Mike (Meredith) of Berthoud, Colorado, Rick (Jamie) of Yankton, South Dakota, John (Jill) of Madison, Wisconsin; two daughters: Barb Doherty of Sioux City, and Karen (Bill) Andert of Mankato, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, and his youngest son, David.
He was a loving husband and father who always placed his family first. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
