Michael R. "Mike" Stanton

Michael R. Stanton, 71, of North Sioux City, South Dakota, formerly of Jefferson, SD, died unexpectedly at his residence on August 11, 2017. A memorial service will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at a later date in Jefferson, South Dakota. Mike was born February 18, 1946 in Sioux City to Lawrence and Bernadette (Benjamin) Stanton. He grew up on a farm west of Jefferson. Mike attended elementary school at St. Peters Catholic Parochial School and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1964. While in high school, he enjoyed running track. Mike served in the 185th Iowa Air National Guard and was stationed in Korea. He farmed with his father in Jefferson and worked for Wilson Motor Company in Sioux City, IA. Mike drove for Velocity Courier Company out of Sioux City for several years before retiring.

Mike is survived by numerous cousins.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
