Arlene E. Schindler, 88, of Sioux City passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at a local care center.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 17, 2017 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Leeds with Reverend James Travis officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 4-7 P.M. with the family present from 5-7 P.M. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel on Hamilton Blvd. Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery. Arlene was born September 12, 1928 in Spencer, Iowa, the daughter of John Thomas and Freida (Rossow) Christiansen. She attended Hawthorne Grade school from grades 1-6 and graduated from Leeds High School. Arlene married Walter J. Schindler on April 28, 1951. To this union, two children were born.
Arlene enjoyed playing Bingo, gardening, sewing, visiting people and traveling, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandkids. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband Walter J. Schindler of Sioux City; children: Linda (Bob) Navrkal of Hinton and Perry (Deb) Schindler of Hinton; grandchildren: Jason Navrkal, Justin (Jackie) Navrkal, Jacob (Ianna) Schindler, and Amanda Schindler; and great grandchildren: Jordan (Navrkal) Hess, Keaton Foreman, and Lillian Schindler.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and sisters.
