SIOUX CITY | Patrick C. Conlon, 54, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at his residence. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be offered online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Pat, also known as “Potsy” to his family and friends, was born on July 24, 1962, in Sioux City, the son of James and Mary Lee (Donahue) Conlon. Pat grew up in Sioux City and attended St. Joseph Grade School and Bishop Heelan High School, where he graduated in 1981. Pat had a tremendous thirst for learning and decided early on to focus on a nursing career. He first attended St. Joseph School of Nursing and then attended Briar Cliff College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA). He earned a Master of Science Degree (MSN) from the University of New Mexico’s Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program. He held “Fellow” status in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and in The National Academies of Practice. He has published in the areas of diabetes management/education and advance practice nursing. Pat was currently a full time student in the PhD program at the University of Arizona, Tucson and was scheduled to graduate with his doctorate in December, 2017. During his nursing career, he worked at Marian Health Center, Sioux City as well as Michael Reese Medical Center and Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Pat was very passionate about his Catholic faith and practiced it on a daily basis. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Mesa, Arizona where he was installed as a 4th degree knight in the Knights of Columbus. He also volunteered for church projects as well as those in his community. Pat was known for his hearty laugh which was unmistakable. He loved oldies music, especially Diana Ross and the Supremes. He was an avid Notre Dame Football fan and attended many games over the years with his family. Survivors include his mother, Mary Conlon of Sergeant Bluff; five siblings, Joe Conlon and his wife, Judy, Lin Slump, Mike Conlon, Susan Moskop and her husband, Clark and Dan Conlon; special friend, Denise Perez; nieces, Kari and Brooke; nephews, Cole and John; and several great nieces and nephews. Patrick was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. Memorials may be made in his name to Bishop Heelan Catholic High School tuition assistance fund or to the American Diabetes Association.
