Cora Hesse

Cora J. Hesse, 90 of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at a local care facility after a brief illness. 

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Rev. R. Paul Johnston will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. 

Cora was born January 18, 1927 in Mapleton, IA; she was the daughter of Earl and Lena Couch. Cora grew up in the Mapleton area and graduated from Mapleton High School. 

On September 17, 1947, Cora married Earl Hesse in Mapleton. Earl passed away on August 23, 2012 in Sioux City. 

Cora was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. 

She was a mother figure to many and a sweetheart to all. She loved her family, holidays and preparing a feast. Cora like to garden, bake and cook, spend time with her family and her dogs Peanut and Dallas and the cats. Cora also enjoyed reading, writing letters to family & friends, playing cards or an occasional crossword or word search (she called them her crazy books). 

Survivors include her son David and his wife Marlene of Sioux City; a grandson Nathan O’Connor and his wife Jen of Des Moines, IA; 4 great grandchildren: Abby, Alli, Aaron O’Connor and Julia Osbahr. 

Cora was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Patti and 2 brothers Carl and Earl.
