Gerald F. “Jerry” Donahue, 67, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at a local hospital.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at

Gerald Francis Donahue was born on February 26, 1950, the son of Francis J. and Mary Ann (Thompson) Donahue in Dell Rapids, SD, the oldest of 15 children. He grew up on a farm near Baltic and attended school at St. Mary's High School, & University of South Dakota.
Jerry married Joan (Amos) on December 31st 1994 and resided together in Sioux City.
Jerry taught school, most recently at Westwood High School in Sloan, IA where he was the technology director, yearbook director, and librarian until his retirement in 2013.
Jerry enjoyed traveling, boating, and entertaining friends with his wife Joan. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them many hobbies such as golfing, boating, fishing, and could often be found just tinkering in the garage. Jerry always had a passion for reading, gardening, woodworking,& photography. Jerry was someone the whole family looked up to and will be greatly missed.
Jerry is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Burns of Dell Rapids; his wife Joan of Sioux City; his children: Julie (John Koupal), Steve (Merredith), James, Josh Amos (Ember), Jennifer (Brian Copeland), Jessica (Jeff Wilen); Five brothers; Six sisters; & 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, two sisters and a brother.
