Phillip James "The Real Phil" Plummer

November 4, 1960 — June 12, 2017

Phillip James “The Real Phil” Plummer, 56, entered into rest to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday, June 12, 2017, after a brief illness, quite unexpectedly. Visitation with the family present will begin at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 17, at Mount Zion. Condolences may be offered online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Phillip was born November 4, 1960, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Lawrence and Shirley Plummer. He was the eighth child and the baby. He attended school in Sioux City, at Webster, Hopkins, Everett, and West Junior High. He spent a brief stint in Mississippi. Phillip was an avid sports fan. His favorite football team was the Chicago Bears, and Gayle Sayers. He was keeping tabs on LeBron and Steph Curry. When he was younger he was quite the contender. He boxed for Tony Drake and Bill Engle. When he was younger he worked for IBP, and the Hyde Companies for a while. He was one tough cookie, and very loveable. He leaves to treasure his memory two sons, Phillip Lefler of Omaha, Nebraska, and Cullen Sheehan of Sioux City, Iowa, his mother Shirley Plummer, Jenell (Robert) Mosley, Lawrence (Toni) Plummer Jr., Mondale Plummer, Shirley Dowd, Linda Plummer, and Cheri Sully. He was preceded in death by his father Lawrence Plummer Sr., a brother Melvin Plummer, a sister Brenda Bryant, a great-grandniece Christiona Bryant, a cousin Little Jo Randolph, a dear nephew Royal Bryant, and maternal and paternal grandparents.
