Tedford E. “Ted” Miller, 82 of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at his residence. Abiding by his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Heartland Baptist Church with Pastor Gene Stockton as officiant. A private Graveside Service, with Military Honors by the United States Air Force will be on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery. www.meyerbroschapels.com Ted was born on May 7, 1935 in Sioux City, Iowa to Robert T. and Winifred (Altimas) Miller, Jr. He received his education in the Sioux City Public Schools, being an outstanding Track and Field athlete, holding numerous records at East High School for numerous years. Ted served in the United States Air Force from 1954 until 1958, when he received his honorable discharge. Following his military service, Ted continued his education at the Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa.
Ted served as a Sioux City Fire Fighter for 18 years before changing careers and retired from John Morrell in 1997. He married Darla C. Tague on August 19, 1988 in Elk Point, South Dakota. Ted was a former drummer on the Foot Patrol with the Abu Bekr Shrine in Sioux City. He opened his own blade sharpening business in the Leeds area of Sioux City, and it was called TND Sharpening. Ted was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed hunting as well.
Ted is survived by his wife Darla of Sioux City; children Patti (Don) Surber, Toni (Bob) Duthoy, Timothy (Laura) Miller, and Matthew (Becky) Miller; step-children Ralph Camerer and Tamie (Camerer) Clayton; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; brother Tom Miller of McAllen, Texas; sister-in-law Florence Miller of Cuero, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert W. Miller, sister-in-law Lois I. Miller, and infant daughter Rebecca "Becky".
