Ronald B. "Ronnie" Snyder

Ronald B. “Ronnie” Snyder, 81, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at his home following a brief illness.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 2, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Reverend Kenny Hsu officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ronnie was born January 10, 1936 in Sioux City, the son of William and Pearl (Oviatt) Snyder. Ronnie’s father passed away when he was a baby and his step-father Earl Ball helped raise him. After graduating high school, he attended Commercial Art College in Oregon. Ronnie married Delores Larson and to this union three children were born: Robbie, Ronnie Marie, and Glenn. He married Frances Gail Wiener on April 21, 1973 in Elk Point, SD.

Ronnie worked for the City of Sioux City for 36 years, retiring as the Superintendent of Public Works in 1999. He was a member of the Municipal Credit Union Board for 36 years and the IPERS Board. Ronnie enjoyed fishing, playing pool, a good game of cribbage, and an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan, but his great love was supporting and spending time with his family. He was a kind, compassionate, and giving man that would help anyone in need.

Ronnie is survived by his wife Fran of Sioux City; children: Robbie (Lynn) Snyder of Sioux City, Ronnie Marie Snyder of Sioux City, Suzi Paul of Dallas, TX, and Glenn (Pam) Snyder of Pensacola, FL; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother Skip (Karen) Snyder of Sioux City; sister-in-law Bertha Snyder of Sioux City; and mother-in-law Gail Wiener of Le Mars, IA.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Step-Father Earl Ball, Brother Russell Snyder, Grandson Rodney Snyder, and Father-in-law Lou Wiener.
