Barbara Ruth Priborsky, 83, was called home to Heaven on May 20, 2017, while in Hospice care in Sioux Falls.

Barbara was born February 2, 1934 in Des Moines, IA. She was the daughter of Robert and Pauline (O’Brien) Norris. They moved to Sioux City, where Barbara was raised in the Morningside area. She attended and graduated from East High School, class of 1952.
On February 3, 1952, Barbara was united in marriage to Otto A. Priborsky. They made their home at McCook Lake, SD, where they raised their family. When the children were small, she stayed at home and tended to them. She sewed, gardened, canned, and maintained a spotless home. When her children were raised, she joined the workforce, working for 11 years at a Sioux City doctor office as a receptionist. She retired from the City of North Sioux City in 1997. After her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling, time spent with friends and family, and each other, until his passing in October of 1997. She also enjoyed quilting, reading, cross word puzzles, talking to her best friend, Janet, time spent with her grandchildren and later, with her great grandchildren. She also enjoyed sitting in the sun, watching the world around her. In 2012, she moved to Sioux Falls, where she enjoyed her days, spending them with Leroy Jethro Gibbs, and her dog Zuzu.
Barbara is survived by four children: Anthony “Tony” (Pam) of Las Vegas, NV, Mary “Mimi” Shanahan of Sioux City, Nancy of Sioux Falls, and Barbara “Bobbi” (Gordon) Watley of Surprise, AZ. She has seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She leaves behind a brother, Dean (Pat) Norris of Mesa, AZ and two nieces.
She is following into Heaven her husband Otto, her mother and father, Robert and Pauline Norris, her mother and father-in-law, Otto and Edith Priborsky, and her son-in-law, Patrick Shanahan.
Honorary Pallbearer will be her dear friend, Dennis Wisner.
