Ronald J. Dibble

SIOUX CITY | Ronald J. Dibble, 92, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017.

 

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. David Hemann officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday with the family present 6-8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Ron was born Jan. 1, 1925 in Plainview, Neb. the son of Furman and Elizabeth (Eggerling) Dibble. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from St. Ludger’s Academy in Creighton, Neb. He continued his education at a trade school in Kearney, Neb. where he studied radio theory and repair.

 

He served with the U.S. Army rising to the rank of Sergeant First Class during WWII and also served during the Korean Conflict.

 

Ron worked at Katz Drug where he met his future wife, Darlene R. Bauerly. They were married June 21, 1948 in Sioux City. She died March 13, 2014 in Sioux City.

 

Ron was employed at Cudahy’s. He then worked at Prince Hydraulics for 30 years and retired in 1986.

 

Ron had a strong passion for farming which included going to farm auctions. Ron and Darlene enjoyed being snow birds to Texas in their retirement. Ron was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church for nearly 70 years.

 

Survivors include 5 children, Roger Dibble and Shari Dibble both of Sioux City, Teresa (Jeff) Eichmann of South Sioux City, Neb., Robert Dibble of Sioux City and Joan (Craig) Werner of Grimes, IA; 5 grandchildren, Jenni (Jeff) Sadler, Niki Dibble, Curtis Eichmann, Ryan and Jared Werner; and 2 great-grandsons, Will and Ben Sadler.                                                                    

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Paul Dibble; 2 sisters, Josephine Gilbertson and Genevieve Mieczkowski; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Dibble; and grandson, Kyle Eichmann.

Memorials may be directed to St. Michael Catholic Church or Hospice of Siouxland.
