Dean Dressler, 84, of Hubbard, NE passed away Friday, May 05, 2017 at Heritage of Emerson Nursing Home.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation and viewing with family present will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Dean was born April 24, 1933 in Garfield, OK the son of Bruce and Abbie (Adams) Dressler. The first of two children. He graduated high school from Rock Rapids, IA. Dean was drafted into the United States Army and served during the Korean War from 1954-1956. He met his future wife on a blind date. Dean married Marion Sewell on July 6, 1957 in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
Dean was a founding member of the Architectural Drafting Department at Northeast Community Technical College in Norfolk, Nebraska. He later moved to South Sioux City, NE and was head of the Architectural Drafting Department at Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City before retiring in 1998. Dean had a lifelong love for carpentry and enjoyed building houses with his family and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife of 59 ½ years, Marion Dressler of Hubbard, NE; children: Denna and husband Neil Schneider of Allen, NE, David Dressler of Wayland, MI, and Dennis Dressler of Hubbard, NE; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and sister Joyce Christiansen of Hutchison, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bruce and Abbie Dressler, a daughter Dawn (Dressler) Finney in February of 1999, son in law Jack Finney, brother in law Edward Christiansen, and a great granddaughter Kimberly Dawn Hoesing.
