DeWayne L. Haglund

Sergeant Bluff, IA | DeWayne L. Haglund, 56, of Sergeant Bluff, IA passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 surrounded by his family at a Sioux City hospital after a six month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. in Sioux City with his brother-in-law, Todd Muir officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday with the family present at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery. DeWayne was born Aug. 28, 1960 in Perry, Iowa to Doyle and Mary May (Peel) Haglund. He grew up in Perry and graduated from Perry High School.

He moved to Sioux City in 1988 and worked at various jobs until finding a job he truly loved at Sergeant Bluff – Luton High School.

On October 18, 1997 he married Lisa R. Newman in Sioux City.

DeWayne was a volunteer with the Sergeant Bluff Fire Department for 20 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing and road trips.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa; 4 children, Ashley (John) Masterson of Rapid City, SD, Jodi (Grant) Van Beek of Hawarden, IA, Michael Haglund and Karlie Haglund both of Sergeant Bluff; 5 grandchildren, Ashlynn, Jalen, Kendrin, Braydon and Emersen; father Doyle Haglund of Jefferson, IA; and sister, Roxanne (Todd) Muir of Jefferson, IA.

He was preceeded in death by his mother, Mary May Haglund.
