Kenneth "Kenny" Gagnon

Kenneth Gagnon, age 88, of Sioux City passed away May 4, 2017 at a local hospital. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 11:00 am at Calvary Lutheran Church, 4400 Central St. (Leeds), Sioux City, Iowa. A light lunch and fellowship will follow at the church.

Kenny was born in Sioux City, Iowa on October 21, 1928. He married Agatha Dean on October 25, 1955 in Mitchell, South Dakota. Kenny and Aggie were blessed with 5 children and 61 years of marriage.

After his marriage they lived briefly in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Preston and Freeborn Minnesota before returning to his hometown of Sioux City to make their home and raise their children.

Kenny was employed with Iowa Pubic Service, Miller Kidder and retired from International Harvester in 1990.

During his younger years, Kenny was a local favorite with the racing crowd, building and racing stock and modified cars. His 'Skull and Cross-bone' car was a Sioux City icon.  When his fifth child was born it was time to give up the racing for camping, boating, fishing and snowmobiling with his family. He enjoyed his South Dakota fishing trips long into his retirement years. Auction sales and Bingo were Kenny’s Saturday and Sunday outings recently, always seeing friends and making new ones. Kenny’s favorite times were with his family enjoying many meals and holidays together.

Survivors: Wife Agatha, son Owen, daughters Rachele (Shelly) Gagnon, Alesia (Lisa) Sissel  from Sioux City, and daughter Nanette Codina from Lincoln, Nebraska. Grandchildren, Heather Rees, Austin Sissel, Lauren Sissel from Sioux City, and grandchildren Audrey, James and Mary Codina from Lincoln, Nebraska.  8 great grandchildren, sister Georgianna from Omaha, NE, and sister Bernice from Sioux, Iowa. Special extended family Diane Sevilla and Paul Swensen, 2 very special furry 4-legged grand dogs, Abby and Kelsey and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Eric Gagnon, brothers Tom, Fred, and Sylvester Gagnon and sisters Eva, Mary and Ruth.
