Darlene D. Pratt, 89, of Sioux City, IA died Monday, May 1, 2017 at a local care center. Darlene will be reunited with her husband, O’Don, who died on April 27, 2017.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial services will be 12:00 (noon) on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Rev. David Koehler officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Darlene Dorothy, daughter of Arthur and Florence (Klave) Bock, was born February 15, 1928, in Hinton, IA. At an early age, Darlene’s family moved to Sioux City. She attended Sioux City schools and graduated from Central High School.
In her teenage years, Darlene worked at Capital Theater in Sioux City and this is where she met her future husband, O’Don C. Pratt. They were married on October 9, 1946, in Sioux City and this union was blessed with three children: Don, Dennis and Debra. Darlene stayed at home while the kids were young and then worked as an elevator operator at the Badgerow Building. In the late 1960’s, she attended classes and WIT for data entry and then went to work for Blue Cross and Blue Shield until retiring in the late 1980’s.
Darlene was a member of the former Third Presbyterian Church in Sioux City. She enjoyed playing the organ, crocheting and gardening. She was very artistic and made several crafts. Darlene and O’Don enjoyed their camping groups and socializing and playing cards with friends. Above all, they both enjoyed spending time with family.
Darlene is survived by two sons: Don (Linda) Pratt and Dennis (Betty) Pratt all of Sioux City, IA; one daughter, Debra (Brian) Uber of Kearney, NE; seven grandchildren: Jason (Beth) Pratt, Jamey (Megan) Pratt, Chad (Michelle) Pratt, Bill (Shelly) Pratt, Carmen (Brent) Mogenson, Katherine (Hasan) Kaval and Kimberly (Justin) Crosswhite; eighteen great grandchildren; Christian, McKenzie, Sydney and Braden Pratt, Ethan and Ryan Pratt, Rylee and Conor Mogenson, Austin and Rees Pratt, Sebastian, Finleigh and Cambree Pratt, Alara, Logan and Johnathan Kaval, and Madelyn and Gavin Crosswhite; one brother, Arthur (Dorothy) Bock, Jr. of Sioux City, IA; one sister, Patricia Williams of Sergeant Bluff, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, O’Don; and one brother, George Bock.
