Emma Jean McLarty, 93, formerly of Sioux City, IA passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017, at Tru Hospice of Northern Colorado in Evans, CO.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial graveside service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Emma Jean, daughter of Charles and Hazel (Green) Ege, was born February 23, 1924, in Sioux City, IA. She was raised in Sioux City and attended East High School.
On June 22, 1946, Emma was united in marriage to Vernon Wayne McLarty in Sioux City. Emma worked at Zenith Wincharger during WWII, Dura Pak in South Sioux City and then Sunrise Manor as a kitchen aide. For most of her life, she was a homemaker. Emma lived in Sioux City for 83 years then moved to Greeley, CO area in 2007 to be close to family.
Emma was active in Women’s Auxiliary Eagles Lodge Aerie 77 while her husband was President. She enjoyed reading and word search. Emma was a devoted Colorado Rockies Fan and if you called her and they were playing you would have to call back.
Emma is survived by one son, Thomas (Nancy) McLarty of Sacramento, CA; two daughters: Linda (Herman) Peeper of Evans, CO and Karen McLarty of Thornton, CO; two grandsons: Corey (Amy) Sands of Greeley, CO and Jeremy (Jen) McLarty of Sacramento, CA; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon on January 8, 1990; five brothers: Don, Jim, Rich, Bob and Dwayne; three sisters: Nellie, Sylvia and Bernie; and an infant grandson, Jeffrey McLarty.
