O’Don C. Pratt, 90, of Sioux City died Thursday, April 27, 2017 at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Monday, May 1, 2017, at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Sioux City. Burial with military honors will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
O’Don C. Pratt, son of Lloyd and Buniel (Kirkus) Pratt, was born November 6, 1926 in Kingsley, IA. The family made their home in the Kingsley area then they moved to Sioux City.
On July 19, 1946, O’Don enlisted in the United States Navy. He was Boatswain Mate Third, stationed in San Diego, CA. He received the WWII Victory Medal and was honorably discharged on April 16, 1953.
On October 9, 1946, he was united in marriage to Darlene Bock in Sioux City and this union was blessed with three children: Don, Dennis and Debra. The family lived in Sioux City and O’Don worked as an auto body repairman for Charlie Miller and then went to work as a salesman for Sioux Plating Company until retiring at age 83.
O’Don was a member of Third Presbyterian Church in Sioux City for many years, a Shriner and a 50-year Masonic Lodge member. He enjoyed flying and as a Shriner flew several children to the Shriners hospital. He was an avid NASCAR fan and also enjoyed midget car racing. Above all, he loved spending time with family.
O’Don is survived by his wife, Darlene Pratt of Sioux City; two sons: Don (Linda) Pratt and Dennis (Betty) Pratt all of Sioux City, IA; one daughter, Debra (Brian) Uber of Kearney, NE; seven grandchildren: Jason (Beth) Pratt, Jamey (Megan) Pratt, Chad (Michelle) Pratt, Bill (Shelly) Pratt, Carmen (Brent) Mogenson, Katherine (Hasan) Kaval and Kimberly (Justin) Crosswhite; eighteen great grandchildren; Christian, McKenzie, Sydney and Braden Pratt, Ethan and Ryan Pratt, Rylee and Conor Mogenson, Austin and Rees Pratt, Sebastian, Finleigh and Cambree Pratt, Alara, Logan and Johnathan Kaval, and Madelyn and Gavin Crosswhite; two brothers: Max (Doris) Pratt of Sherman, TX and Jerry (Pat) Pratt of Vermillion, SD; nieces; nephews; other relatives; friends and his beloved cat Duffy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Neal (Lynn) Pratt.
