Leonard A. Schmitt

Leonard A. Schmitt, 86, of Sioux City died Monday, April 24, 2017, at Bickford Senior Living.

Cremation will take place and private services will be held.  Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Leonard Anthony Schmitt, son of Matthew and Catherine Schmitt, was born April 30, 1930 in Salem, SD.  After graduation from Salem High School, he attended SDSU until he enlisted in the Marine Corp. where he became a Sgt.

Leonard married Carol Meinen on August 18, 1951.  After leaving the Marine Corp., he settled into a career driving cab in Sioux City.

Leonard is survived by his daughters: Debbie Campbell of Tampa, FL and Pamela Davis of Sioux City, IA; four grandchildren: Ambre O’Gara, Brooke (Adam) Carstensen, Drew Campbell, and Abby (Josh) Lehr; and two great grandsons: Maxwell and Gregor Carstensen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol Schmitt; and daughter, Kathy Schmitt.
