Peter J. “Bud” Mullen, 68, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.
A celebration of his life will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Msgr. R. Mark Duchaine officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Twp. Cemetery, Fonda, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be offered online at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Peter was born March 24, 1949 in Laurens, Iowa to Peter and Marjorie (Patterson) Mullen. He graduated from Fonda OLGC high school in 1967, from Wayne State College in 1972, and from the University of South Dakota with his MBA in 1994.
On August 21, 1970 he married his high school sweetheart, the former Vicki Burditt, in Fonda.
Pete grew up on a farm in Fonda, Iowa. He was employed at Prince Manufacturing for 42 years, eventually becoming CFO. He enjoyed his work and only retired two years prior to his passing. He remained on the board of directors until he was forced to stop due to his illness.
He enjoyed woodworking, taking care of his acreage, and all things technology. He loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren.
Pete was always there to help his family and friends and he enjoyed giving back to the community.
He is survived by his wife Vicki of 47 years, his two daughters, Jennifer (Stewart) Merriam and Andrea (Donald) Maurer, 2 granddaughters Addison and Ellery Merriam, and 3 granddogs, sisters Teresa (Tom) Meyer, Elaine Mullen, Mary Jo (Fran) Marron, and Valerie Walsh, brothers Ron (Carol) Mullen, and Mark (Lori) Mullen, sisters –in- law Candy Mullen and Valerie (Mike) Hannasch, brothers- in- law Ken (Kathie) Burditt and Keith (Mary) Burditt, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Marjorie Mullen, his in-laws Orville and Doris Burditt, his sister Jeanie, brothers Jim and John, brother -in- law Larry Walsh, nephew Jason Walsh, and his special aunt and uncle Hank and Mary McCartan.
