Arline W. Broyhill, 96, of Pickstown SD formerly of Dakota City NE died Tuesday evening at Regency Square in South Sioux City.
Memorial service will be at 11:00 am Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, 125 E. 21st, South Sioux City, NE with the Rev. David Koehler officiating for Rev. Stephen S. Niles. Lunch will be after the service. Burial will be private at Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm with an Eastern Star service at 7pm Thursday evening April 20th at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Blvd. in Sioux City.
Arline Broyhill (Stewart) was born on Feb. 2, 1921 in Shoals NE. She was the daughter of Clarence and Sophia (Wriedt) Stewart. The family moved to South Sioux City when Arline was 4 years old. Her father worked for the B & N Railroad in Sioux City. Arline attended school in South Sioux City and graduated high school from there. She worked for the Dakota County Court House for several years.
She married Roy F. Broyhill on January 30, 1943 in Dakota City NE. The couple co-founded The Broyhill Company in March of 1946 operating from Sioux City the first two years. In 1948 they built the first of what was to become the company complex in Dakota City. She retired from business in 1990.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, PEO, library board and Eastern Star. She and Roy were also active in county and state political organizations throughout their lives.
Survivors include: three sons and their wives; Craig and Jean (Messenger) and Kent and Marci (Foster) all from Dakota City and Bryce and Cindy (Logeman) of Pickstown SD. Eight grandchildren: Ann and her husband Eric of Omaha, Sara and her husband Bryan of Fairfield CT, Adam of Omaha, Michelle and her husband Jamison of Las Vegas NV, Kristin of Omaha, Diane and her husband Andrew of Rapid City SD, Brandon of Sioux Falls SD and Alex of Pickstown SD. Ten Great grandchildren: Easton, Aiden and Evan (Ann and Eric); Grace, Audrey, Ben, Charlotte and Daniel (Sara and Bryan); Piper (Michelle and Jamison); Bridgette (Diane and Andrew).
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Roy), Daughter (Lynn), and brother, Gene.
